West Indies' ODI and T20 head coach will be Daren Sammy

The board announced on Friday (May 12) that former captain Daren Sammy has been selected West Indies' head coach for the two white-ball competitions. Sammy's assignment begins in June in Sharjah with a three-match ODI series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), before the ICC Men's World Cup 2023 Qualifier competition in Zimbabwe. Andre Coley, a former keeper-batter, has been designated head coach of the Test and 'A' teams by CWI. In the July home series against India, Coley debuts with the senior squad.
 

Sammy stated of his position, "It will be a challenge, but one that I'm ready for and excited about. "I'm incredibly excited about the chance, especially in light of the talent we have and the effect I hope to have on the locker room. I think my playing style will carry over into my coaching career, including my enthusiasm, drive for achievement, and unwavering devotion to West Indies cricket.

Sammy assumes the position after leading West Indies teams to two T20 World Cup victories (in 2012 and 2016). Coley has coaching expertise at all levels of West Indies cricket and served as the team's interim head coach during earlier this year's visits to South Africa and Zimbabwe.
